MerchWise ("MerchWise", "we", "us") helps store owners turn their product listings into ready-to-sell copy and imagery, and publish them back to the sales channels they connect. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to merchants who use MerchWise and to the stores they connect (Shopify and other commerce platforms).

Who this policy is about

MerchWise is a tool for merchants. We work with product and store data — not your shoppers' personal information. We do not build shopper profiles, and we do not use your customers' personal data. If a connected platform sends us a shopper-data or deletion request on a customer's behalf, we honor it (see Your rights & deletion).

What we collect

Account information — your name, email, and workspace details, so you can sign in and we can support you.
Store & product data — via the connection you authorize, we read your product catalog (titles, descriptions, images, categories, prices, SKUs) and basic store info in order to optimize your listings, and we write the improved content back to your store when you publish it.
Access tokens — the OAuth token your platform issues so MerchWise can read and update your products on your behalf. Tokens are stored securely and used only for that purpose.
Usage data — how you use MerchWise (e.g., which tools you run) and standard technical logs, to operate, secure, and improve the service.

We request the minimum access a task needs — for product optimization that is read/write on products, not your sales, customers, or financials.

How we use it

To generate and enhance product titles, descriptions, SEO, and imagery in your brand voice.
To publish that content back to the store you connected, when you choose to.
To provide, secure, support, and improve MerchWise.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Service providers (subprocessors)

We share data only as needed with providers that help us run MerchWise:

AI providers (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI) — to generate and enhance listing content and images. Product content you optimize is sent to these providers to produce the output; it is not used to train their public models under our agreements.
Your connected platforms (such as Shopify) — we exchange data with them via their APIs to read and update your products.
Hosting & infrastructure — the servers and services that run the application.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your data for as long as your workspace is active. When you disconnect a store, close your account, or a connected platform notifies us that a shop has uninstalled or closed, we revoke the stored access token and delete or de-identify the associated data. For Shopify specifically, we honor the standard compliance requests (customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact) automatically.

Your rights & deletion

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to access, delete, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.

Text messages (SMS)

If you choose to enable SMS sign-in codes, you can add and verify your mobile number in your account's Security settings. We use your number only to send account verification codes and account-security notifications (for example, a password-change alert) — never marketing. Message frequency varies with your account activity (typically a few messages per month at most). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time or HELP for help; you can also remove your number in Security settings.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to keep the app secure. We do not use advertising cookies.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and restricted access to credentials. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit what we collect.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as MerchWise evolves. We will post the new version here and update the date above.
